Join us for the much-anticipated Corewell Health Southwest Michigan Foundation Gala annual event featuring philanthropy, live entertainment, and fine dining. This year, all Gala proceeds will benefit the maternal and infant health initiative focused on walking the journey of parenthood with soon-to-be parents and their families in the community. The program helps to reduce maternal mortality, improve maternal and infant health, and promote family well-being and stability. With this healthy beginning, mothers and infants move toward a stronger and healthier future in the community we all call home.

More of the Initiative
The maternal and infant health initiative includes care managers and community health workers who walk the journey of parenthood with the soon-to-be parents and their families. Starting from the early stages of pregnancy, the trained care teams will develop strong relationships and trust through meeting regularly with expectant parents and families with young children to address the families’ needs. The home visits between care workers and parents are offered one-on-one from pregnancy through baby’s 18-month birthday to help lay the foundation for the health, education, development, and economic self-sufficiency of the entire family. The team works to connect the family with the needed community resources and support to promote positive parenting.
The program has been proven to help:
- reduce maternal mortality and morbidity.
- improve infant and child health.
- improve school readiness.
- decrease incidence of child neglect.
- promote family well-being and stability.
